Maine Ocean School
P.O. Box 10, Searsport, Maine 04974
Maine Ocean School was approved as Maine's second residential magnet school with a mission of providing an ocean-themed education to any student in the State of Maine.
For the coming 2019-2020 school year, we are excited to announce the potential to provide weekday-only room and board for up to 15 of an expected 24-30 students.
We have worked out a tentative agreement with the owners of Captain Sweetser's Inn to house students in Searsport, with Maine Ocean School providing trained residential staff. We will need to reach a minimum of 8 residential students to offset the personnel cost as well as that of meal service and other operating expenses.
Maine Ocean School has set a room and board fee of $9,300 per student per year - the same as Maine School of Science and Mathematics.
The Maine Ocean School’s Board of Trustees is working with the Maine Ocean School Foundation to create a financial aid fund for the room and board fee for qualified Maine residents, but we cannot guarantee that this fund will be able to fully meet all needs for the 2019-2020 school year.
