Emily is a school counselor and she has been assisting students in achieving academic and personal success since 1979. She has been employed in six different public-school systems in Maine. She has reviewed applications for university, college, charter, and magnet schools, as well as other educational programs. She has coached multiple students in their pursuit of vocational school and experiential education programs. Her work is focused on finding ways to make school more meaningful for individual students, addressing barriers that impede success, and building skills for self-efficacy overall.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Taylor University, and a Masters in Counselor Education from University of Southern Maine. She has advanced training in family systems and motivational interviewing, and is licensed as a professional clinical counselor. She is a registered Maine Guide and a certified Wilderness First Responder.
Ever a lifelong experiential learner, Emily has a passion for linoleum print making. She leads wilderness trips in the summer. With her husband, she runs Hope Orchards, a Pick-Your-Own apple orchard in Hope, Maine.
