Foundation and Board of Trustee discussion.
Maine Ocean School "accomplishment" brain-storm.
Maine Ocean School board members and volunteers spent all day Saturday working on the action plan for the school opening in fall of 2018. The meeting took place at Point Lookout in Northport, and what a classy place to have an all-day meeting! The intent of the retreat was to regroup everyone’s efforts, both from the School and the Foundation, and formulate an action plan to make sure all “t’s” are crossed and “I’s” are dotted for the School’s grand opening. With the helpful facilitation of John D’Anieri, committees worked on addressing where efforts should be spent and a task list to be conquered, all of which will need a crew of willing volunteers to help accomplish :hint hint, wink wink:!
Finance & Facilities is working on reducing the proposed budget for the school and taking a more conservative view on how the first 2 years will function for students.
Program Committee is working on a timeline for admissions (with a proposed opening in January) and establishing policies for incoming students.
Governance Committee is focusing efforts on mainstreaming branding and marketing to help promote the school throughout the state. A willing social-media guru volunteer will be needed in the foreseeable future, so keep a look-out for the posting!
The Foundation is gearing up to focus efforts on fund-raising.
A lot of planning and decisions will be made in the next coming months. Keep checking in for updates and send us a message if you are interested in helping out!
