Maine Ocean School

The Board of Trustees voted that only a portion of the students attending Maine Ocean School will be residential for our first year of operation (translation:students who live within close driving distance will not be required to board with the school). In our 4th year of operation Maine Ocean School plans on being fully residential, where all students will be required to house together to build shipboard camaraderie.

Current Maine Ocean School updates include Branding Standards being approved, school policies being created and reviewed, as well as a Volunteer Training day being organized in the next coming weeks for anyone interested in helping us spread the word on Maine Ocean School!

Full steam ahead! We have 8 months to get our riggings and equipment together! Check the Calendar for upcoming School and Foundation meetings. Anyone interested in attending is welcome to join!

Student Admissions Here We Come!

January 1, 2018

Happy New Year everyone, and what a year it will be! The Admissions Package and procedure has finally been approved by the Board of Trustees! A link has been provided on our website for those who want to sign up and receive the Admissions Information Packet, so check it out if this applies to you! Before the end of the month, the Package will be accessible online for all interested parties as well.

To give a quick snap shot of what our Admissions Team will be focusing on, students applying to Maine Ocean School will be evaluated in a holistic way that emphasizes potential and not just GPA.  Applicants will be required to submit an essay or video describing why they want to work on or study the ocean, and why they would be a good fit for the school. These submissions will be assessed based on the rubric below:
