Current Maine Ocean School projects include putting together an admissions package for applying students and negotiating a possible location for the School. Stay tuned for updates!
The Foundation has set course, submitting grant requests and building informative packages to give to prospective donors to support Maine Ocean School. Research is underway for potential locations for office space and acquirement of equipment (i.e. phones, computers, CRM software, etc.) to make efforts more efficient and organized.
Check the Calendar for upcoming School and Foundation meetings. Anyone interested in attending is welcome to join!
Maine Ocean School is in the midst of the State’s school approval process, which includes giving them an estimated number of students that will attend in the first year. The trustees decided that number would be up to 30 students in 10th and 11th grade.
Because Maine Ocean School is proficiency based, grades will not necessarily be “traditional” and enrolled students will likely start with foundational classes before choosing a track: marine science, marine transportation, marine engineering, or marine management. Students who attend Maine Ocean School for our first year will likely be with us a total of 3 years before graduation to ensure they are provided all of the necessary skills and training to succeed post-graduation.
