Maine Ocean School ensures an objective procedure when evaluating all collected data from applicants. As such, several rubrics were created to evaluate each of the criteria, with the exception of GPA, they are:
Maine Ocean School welcomes applicants of all backgrounds and provides equal access to all rights, programs, and privileges offered to students. Maine Ocean School does not discriminate on the grounds of ability, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, including transgender status and gender expression, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, genetic information or social standing in admissions, employment, education, and all other programs and activities.
The Maine Ocean School admission criteria is not limited to an applicant's GPA (grade point average), as is customary in many other magnet schools. Our foundational belief is that an applicant’s GPA is not the greatest predictor of potential achievement. We developed the criteria below to evaluate applications and to provide a framework where applicants can present evidence that supports their potential to succeed at Maine Ocean School.
The Admissions Team will only review complete applications and all applicants will receive written notice of admission status. Those applicants who are not immediately admitted will receive written notification including feedback for future resubmission.
